Originally released in 2015 as the first colorway of the Kobe 10, “5AM Flight” was inspired by Kobe Bryant’s recovery from a devastating Achilles injury. Its name references the early-morning training sessions and fearless mindset that defined his return, including his famous 40-foot dive after completing rehabilitation. The shoe features a monochromatic Blue Lagoon upper with a reinforced construction, snake-scale detailing on the tongue and contrasting black Swooshes. Red accents appear on Kobe’s signature and along the left heel, representing the stitches from his Achilles surgery. For the Protro edition, Nike has updated the original design for the modern game. The upper and traction pattern have been re-engineered, while the toe box has been widened for a more comfortable fit. Cushlon 3.0 foam replaces the original Lunarlon cushioning, supported by a full-length Zoom Strobel unit for improved responsiveness, comfort and court feel.
